AYA cancer patients (ages 15-39), who may be coping with similar issues, can find it challenging to meet each other on their own. Since this is a time in younger patients’ lives when social support may be needed the most, Moffitt encourages adolescent and young adult cancer patients, family members and friends to participate in the following programs.

AYA Events

Attending an AYA social event gives you the chance to meet other cancer patients and survivors your age who get what you’re going through. Events are also open to family members and friends and are typically free for patients.

The AYA Program offers reoccurring events including networking dinners, game nights and an annual holiday party. We also hosted a AYA and survivorship cooking class

AYA Ambassadors

The AYA Ambassadors Committee is a patient advocacy group that meets monthly to communicate patient needs to the AYA Program. AYA ambassadors provide insight and feedback to program initiatives and resources to offer the most effective support to other AYA patients, survivors and caregivers. The AYA Ambassadors volunteer their time to meet monthly to assist the AYA Program and represent the program at events held outside of Moffitt.

Interested in sharing your patient experience, planning fun peer-to-peer events and assisting with improving care for other AYA fighters? Email aya@moffitt.org to learn the steps in joining the Ambassador patient advocacy committee today!

Cancer Survivorship Clinic

As survivors travel through the different phases of their cancer journey, Moffitt Cancer Center’s Survivorship Clinic can help with different challenges that appear after completing therapy. Within the clinic, there is a special focus on Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer survivors because we know the unique physical, psychological and social of cancer survivors under 40 years of age.
