A new way to connect with your providers

Moffitt patients can receive top-notch, Moffitt-quality care without leaving the comfort of home. New and established patients can interact with clinical care teams through face-to-face video appointments using their computer or via a mobile device. You do not have to wait to be seen because of COVID-19.

Virtual Visits are offered by medical oncologists, surgeons, advanced practice professionals (APP), nurses and non-clinical providers such as genetic counselors, and dietitians.

If a patient is recommended to have further testing or imaging scans done after a virtual visit, rest assured Moffitt Cancer Center is committed to the health and safety of our patients, their families and our team members. In response to COVID-19, we are taking all necessary precautions consistent with the advice from the CDC.  Moffitt is the safest place for cancer patients to receive the highest level of diagnostic imaging and radiology services. We offer the latest technologies for tumor detection and staging. As a result, we have the ability to detect even the rarest cancers in their earliest stages, a key step in improving patient outcomes.  All exams are performed by licensed technologists with advanced registration in their specialty.

What is the difference between a phone call and a Virtual Visit?

While a phone call only allows for audio, Virtual Visits include video as well as audio. This is a more comprehensive visit that allows you to virtually be in the same room as your clinical team. You will need a device (computer or mobile) with internet access, a built-in microphone and a camera.

Are virtual visits secure?

Yes. Our IT and Cybersecurity teams have worked diligently to vet and configure Zoom to safeguard against any threats. Each Virtual Visit appointment uses a unique identification number and password and is secured using 256bit AES encryption. Moffitt has hosted more than 40,000 Virtual Visits with no security incidents to report.

Will my insurance cover a virtual visit?

Most, but not all, health plans provide coverage for virtual visits. Please check with your plan to determine your specific coverage. Your out-of-pocket costs for virtual visits will depend on insurance benefits. If you have any billing and financial inquiries or would like to discuss financing or financial assistance options, please contact Moffitt Customer Service at 1-800-456-3434 ext. 8422.

Is Virtual Visits available outside the state of Florida?

If you are interested in virtual care and live in another state, contact Moffitt to determine eligibility.

Can I get a prescription through Virtual Visits?

Yes, the visit allows for appropriate prescribing based on the provider’s evaluation.
