TAMPA, Fla. — Timothy Adams, chair of Moffitt Cancer Center’s Institute Board of Directors, has won the Celebration of Service Award for Trustee of the Year through the Florida Hospital Association.

This year marks Adams’ 25th year of board service to Moffitt, the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida. When he joined the Institute Board in 1992, Moffitt counted 800 team members. Now 5,700 strong with an international reputation for translational research and exceptional cancer care, Moffitt owes much success to Adams’ loyalty, leadership and tireless dedication.

As president of Time Customer Service (1992-2016), Adams developed incredible financial acumen that has guided Moffitt’s 1.5 million-square-foot expansion over two decades. He was a key negotiator behind a recent $75 million investment in Moffitt subsidiary M2Gen that will benefit countless patients nationwide through precision medicine-based clinical trials. His support of partnerships has enabled Moffitt to extend its expertise globally, to Tianjin Medical University in China, and statewide, including partnerships with Memorial Healthcare System’s Broward County hospitals.

“We are delighted to celebrate this outstanding recognition alongside our dear friend and colleague Tim Adams,” said Dr. Alan List, president and CEO at Moffitt. “Tim is a strategic thinker, a willing collaborator, a humble philanthropic supporter and a respected ambassador for Moffitt.”

Adams was the founding chair of the Moffitt Medical Group Board in 1994 when Moffitt became the nation’s first cancer center to directly contract with its physicians.

The awards ceremony was held Oct. 19 during the FHA Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando.
