Moffitt Cancer Center’s Healthy KIDZ Program to Celebrate Future Innovators with

WHO: The Moffitt Healthy KIDZ Program is a community outreach program offered by Moffitt Cancer Center for children and adolescents of all ages focusing on cancer prevention, healthy living and positive life choices. The Healthy KIDZ motto “prevention starts early” aligns with Moffitt’s mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. The Healthy KIDZ culture of inclusion welcomes youth from diverse backgrounds and is supported by essential healthy lifestyle opportunities through robust programming and education for the mind and body.

WHAT: The Moffitt Healthy KIDZ STEAM Role Model Awards.

            Moffitt’s Healthy KIDZ Program will award five $1,000 scholarships to students who excel in    Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). The STEAM Role Model Awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, June 9, at Moffitt’s Stabile Research Building.

            More than 30 area graduating teens have applied for the scholarships. Molina Healthcare of Florida generously donated $2,500 toward the initiative.

           “We are thrilled to offer scholarships to the future leaders in science, technology, engineering, arts and math,” said Nikki Ross Inda, community relations coordinator at Moffitt. “The graduating seniors of today are the future of our society, and we hope that STEAM programs like Healthy KIDZ will motivate and fund the cultural and scientific advancements of tomorrow.”

            Hillsborough County Commissioner Vice Chair Sandra Murman, Port Tampa Bay President and CEO Paul Anderson, and Moffitt Center Director Thomas Sellers, Ph.D., MPH, will present scholarships.
