Moffitt Cancer Center is the first in Florida and third in the United States to have a Hybrid Room featuring the Toshiba Infinix-i 4D CT . To celebrate, the cancer center will host a grand opening celebration from 3- 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 25.
The new CT/Angio Hybrid room combines an interventional lab with Computed Tomography, or CT equipment. It improves workflow and wait time, allowing patients to receive quicker diagnosis and treatment. The real CT imaging available on demand may help interventionalists improve visualization of tumors and feeder vessels, in addition to providing whole-organ body perfusion. Plus, it promotes patient safety because it eliminates the need to transfer patients between departments.
Moffitt Cancer Center is using the Infinix–i 4D CT for a variety of Interventional Radiology and oncology procedures to more efficiently plan, treat and verify in a single clinical setting. The system’s seamless integration of the interventional lab and CT scanner can transform workflow, eliminating the need to transfer patients between departments, decreasing procedure time and ensuring patient safety.
In the past, Interventional Radiology could schedule only two to three ablations or seven to eight biopsies in the CT Department in a single day because of the time it takes to complete each procedure. However, since the 4D CT machine captures images faster than the previous machine, it can reduce approximately 20 to 30 minutes from each procedure. This means more patients can be treated on the same day with a more enhanced and focused intervention.
Plus, embolizations can now be done in two rooms, which allows Moffitt to double its embolization capacity.
