TAMPA, Fla. – Moffitt Cancer Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Grammy Award winner Paul Anthony to its national Board of Advisors. Paul Anthony joins a prominent group of individuals from across the nation who serve as Moffitt ambassadors and offer their expertise and counsel on issues relating to the cancer center.

Paul Anthony is a member of the 1990s R&B music group Full Force. He has received multiple gold, platinum and diamond record plaques and Broadcast Music Incorporated awards. He and Full Force were among the Grammy Award®-winning group of certified songwriters on the Black Eyed Peas’ 2005 hit, “Don’t Phunk With My Heart.”

“We are excited to have Paul join this group and bring with him a tremendous enthusiasm for finding a cure for this terrible disease,” said Bob Griese, Moffitt’s Board of Directors chair and former Dolphins Pro Football Hall of Famer quarterback. “He knows how to break through the clutter and deliver the message that we need to support research if we are going to put an end to cancer.”

Paul Anthony describes himself as a “cancer champion” and is a survivor of mantle cell lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome and acute leukemia. He established The Paul Anthony Foundation and The Paul Anthony Cancer Champions Initiative after his successful bone marrow transplant courtesy of his brother, Lou George Jr. Both organizations support cancer education and research. He seeks to touch, change and save lives by raising awareness of cancer and the importance of cancer research and healthy lifestyles. Because of his strong interest in raising awareness of cancer in the African-American community, Paul Anthony also serves as a national advisor to Moffitt’s George Edgecomb Society, a new initiative that seeks to raise funds to address cancer health disparities.

Paul Anthony, who is credited with bringing bodybuilding, fitness and training to the urban and pop music industry, continues to spread the message of health, inspiring millions over his 30-year career. He joins 31 other prominent figures on Moffitt’s national Board of Advisors.
