Moffitt Cancer Center Wants Your Ideas at Local Cancer Moonshot Summit
Community invited to event being held in conjunction with Vice President Joe Biden’s Cancer Moonshot Summit in Washington, D.C.

WHO:  Moffitt Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, in conjunction with the White House Moonshot Taskforce, invites the community to participate in a Cancer Moonshot Summit.

WHAT: Vice President Joe Biden is convening a Cancer Moonshot Summit in Washington, D.C., and simultaneously mobilizing conversations in communities across the country. These summits will be the first time that people and organizations representing the entire cancer community — patients, survivors, cancer advocates, researchers, oncologists, care providers, philanthropists, and data and tech experts — will all convene under the national charge to double the rate of progress toward a cure.

Moffitt Cancer Center will host its own Cancer Moonshot Summit in conjunction with the Vice President’s event. Join Moffitt
Center Director Thomas Sellers, Ph.D., M.P.H., and other leading scientists as we highlight Moffitt’s top research initiatives and discuss efforts to accelerate progress in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.

Participants also will view a broadcast by Vice President Biden from Washington, D.C., where he’ll be joined by William Dalton, Ph.D., M.D., CEO of Moffitt’s wholly owned subsidiary M2Gen.

The goal is to generate ideas from the community on collaborations and effective approaches to prevent and cure cancer. All ideas will be submitted to the White House Moonshot Taskforce.

The event is free and open to the public.

WHEN: Wednesday, June 29, 2-4 p.m.

WHERE: Moffitt Cancer Center, Ted Couch Auditorium, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612
