Moffitt Cancer Center Sends More Than 75 Advocates To Tallahassee to Share Their Story with Lawmakers

WHAT:           Moffitt Cancer Center is hosting its 11th-annual Moffitt Day at the Florida State Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 20.  The day of advocacy recognizes the need for continued legislative support to eradicate Florida’s leading cause of death – cancer. 

More than 75 Speak Out for Moffitt advocates, who include patients, caregivers and Moffitt staff, will travel to Tallahassee for the event. Advocates meet with lawmakers and share Moffitt’s mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer and ask for continued state support for the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida. 

Activities kick off on Sunday, Jan. 17, when 22 Cure on Wheelscyclists begin their four-day cancer-awareness ride that ends at the steps of the historic Capitol. 

WHEN:           Cure on Wheels Sendoff

Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 a.m. – Twenty-two Cure on Wheels cyclists will begin their Capitol Ride, a 4-day, 325 mile ride from Tampa to Tallahassee to raise funds for cancer research and patient services funding. 

                        Speak Out For Moffitt Advocate Sendoff

Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 5:30 a.m. – More than 50 volunteers will board a bus and travel to Tallahassee to meet with lawmakers, share why Moffitt is important to them and ask for continued state support for the cancer center.
