Moffitt Cancer Center’s Mole Patrol® Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Free Skin Cancer Screenings on Clearwater Beach

August 04, 2016

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, with nearly 5.5 million Americans diagnosed each year. One person in five will develop skin cancer at some point in their life, and early detection can save lives. Twenty years ago, Moffitt Cancer Center created the Mole Patrol®, a free, mobile skin cancer screening program made up of physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who specialize in skin cancer and/or dermatology. Since 1996, the Mole Patrol® has screened more than 15,000 people and recommended thousands receive follow-up evaluation by a dermatologist.

The Mole Patrol® invites the Tampa Bay community to celebrate its 20th anniversary by attending a free skin cancer screening clinic at the Pier 60 Pavilion on Clearwater Beach. In addition to a free checkup, attendees will also receive sun safety educational material and sunscreen samples.
