TAMPA, Fla. – Moffitt Cancer Centeronce again has been nationally recognized by Premier Inc., a leading health care improvement company, for supporting supply chain diversity as part of its social responsibility initiatives.
Premier presented the Diversity Award to Moffitt during an awards ceremony June 22 during Premier’s annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Maryland.
Moffitt is the only Premier member to receive the Diversity Award this year. The award honors health systems that have established active programs to evaluate and support minority-, women- and veteran-owned enterprises, as well as small businesses, available through the Premier contract portfolio. Moffitt also was recognized with the Diversity Award in 2015.
“We are ecstatic to receive this award, especially from such a prestigious health care alliance,” said B. Lee Green, Ph.D., vice president of Diversity and Community Relations at Moffitt. “We share a similar passion in improving the health of the communities in which we live and feel that it is Moffitt’s duty and social responsibility to support the local and diverse businesses who want to contribute to our mission.”
Premier members apply for the Diversity Award and are measured on engagement in diversity initiatives through community involvement, diversity business outreach initiatives, benchmarking and best practices sharing.
“Moffitt Cancer Center is at the forefront of innovative diversity programs that benefit the communities, businesses and people they serve,” said Durral R. Gilbert, Premier president of supply chain services. “We welcome collaboration with diverse suppliers and encourage health systems to use their highly valued products and services.”
