Moffitt Cancer Center Hosts Free Lunch Presentation in Puerto Rico on Prostate Cancer Treatment and Prevention

TAMPA, Fla. – Moffitt Cancer Center will offer the 11th event in its series of free cancer education programs called “De Moffitt a Puerto Rico: Charlas sobre cáncer” Dec. 2, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The program, presented in Spanish, will focus on the latest advances in early detection and treatments for prostate cancer, including radiation therapy. The event will be held at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, 1309 Ashford Ave., San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico native and Radiation Oncologist Javier Torres Roca, M.D., director of research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center, will offer information on new advances in research and treatment for prostate cancer and answer questions from the audience.

Approximately one in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in American men, behind only lung cancer.At this free event, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk one-on-one with one of the top experts from Moffitt, the only Florida-based National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The program is being hosted by the Puerto Rico Advisory Council for Moffitt Cancer Center.  Lunch will be provided. Parking and door prizes are included.
