Moffitt Cancer Center Hosts Free Breakfast Presentation in Puerto Rico on Tips for Preventing Cancer

TAMPA, Fla. – Moffitt Cancer Center will offer the tenth event in its series of free cancer education programs called “De Moffitt a Puerto Rico: Charlas sobre cáncer” April 16, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The program, presented in Spanish, will focus on powerful tips for preventing cancer. The event will be held at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, 1309 Ashford Ave., San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Moffitt experts Nagi Kumar, Ph.D, R.D, F.A.D.A., director of the department of Cancer Chemoprevention, and Karen Fields, M.D., medical director of the Moffitt Oncology Network,  will offer information on new advances in research for cancer prevention and answer questions from the audience. 

Aside from common tips such as eating healthy, getting ample amount of rest, avoiding alcohol and sun exposure, the discussion will explore clinically-proven techniques that can help with cancer prevention, as well as benefit cancer survivors who have finished treatment. 

At this free event, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk one-on-one with top experts from Moffitt, the only Florida-based National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. 

The program is being hosted by the Puerto Rico Advisory Council for Moffitt Cancer Center.  Breakfast will be provided.  Parking and door prizes are included.
