Moffitt Cancer Center Appoints Cole Peterson as Associate General Counsel

TAMPA, Fla. —Moffitt Cancer Center has announced the appointment of T. Cole Peterson, J.D., M.H.A., as Associate General Counsel. Peterson will report to David de la Parte, Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Moffitt will benefit greatly from her depth of experience leading progressive legal teams at dynamic health care organizations,” de la Parte said. “Moffitt is experiencing tremendous growth and it is her diverse expertise in navigating complex health care legal issues that make her a valuable asset to our team.”

Peterson most recently served as general counsel, chief regulatory officer, privacy officer and management representative at United Orthopedic Group (Frisco, Texas), an international 600-employee bracing manufacturer and multi-state service company.  During her tenure, she managed all legal aspects related to compliance, contracting and safety functions for 19 legal entities.

Prior to that, she served as the vice president of Legal Affairs at CCS Medical Inc. in Clearwater and in-house counsel at All Children’s Health System in St. Petersburg.  Peterson started her career as an associate in the National Health Law Group at Holland & Knight in St. Petersburg in 1999.

Peterson received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from Duke University in 1995. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor and Master’s Degree in Health Administration from St. Louis University in 1999.  Peterson is a member of The Florida Bar, the Bar of the Supreme Court Florida and The Texas Bar.  She also holds memberships with the American Health Lawyers Association,Health Care Compliance Association, Association of Corporate Counsel, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Peterson returned to Tampa with her husband and son to be close to family and to further her career in health care law.
