Tampa, FL – The Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation launched its women in philanthropy group in Sarasota March 25 by hosting a membership luncheon at the Ritz Carlton.
Eileen Curd, a member of the Moffitt Foundation Board of Directors, welcomed 25 women to learn about the Moffitt Merit Society and its support of women’s cancer research, patient care and education. Among the guests were Graci McGillicuddy, Claudia Porter, Charlene Wolff, Gordie White and Mary Forté, who are all members of the Moffitt Merit Society through their philanthropic support.
Membership in the society benefits the female scientists and physicians at Moffitt along with its Center for Women’s Oncology and educational program for college-age women studying science and medicine.
The luncheon featured one of Moffitt’s leading doctors, Sarah Rausch, Ph.D., who heads the Integrative Medicine Program. She captivated the audience with the important role that acupuncture, massage, Tai Chi and other complementary therapies have on cancer patients, noting their beneficial outcomes to manage pain, fatigue and other cancer-related issues.
