Moffitt Cancer Center Appoints Vice President of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs

Tampa, FLMoffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, announces the appointment of Jamie Wilson to the newly created position of Vice President Strategic Communications and Public Affairs.  Wilson previously served as vice president of Government Relations at Moffitt.     

Wilson will be primarily responsible for leading Moffitt’s branding and marketing communications strategy with a focus on Total Cancer Care, Moffitt’s comprehensive approach to cancer care, which identifies and meets the needs of patients and their families through personalized medicine.

Wilson will oversee public relations, marketing, government relations, advocacy, multimedia resources, publications, conference planning and Moffitt’s call center Cancer Answers. He will continue to direct Moffitt’s public affairs efforts to build and maintain relationships with local, statewide and federal legislators and elected officials. 

Prior to joining Moffitt in 2007, Wilson was a founding member of Tallahassee-based lobbying firm Liberty Partners of Florida . He also held the position of executive director of The Republican Party of Florida during the 2000 election cycle. From 1988 to 1999, Wilson served as a top aide to United States Senator Connie Mack.

Wilson received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his master’s from Florida State University, where he served as an adjunct professor. He has also served as an adjunct professor at University of Tampa.
