Moffitt Cancer Center Offers Free Health Screenings at Fair

A Celebration of Community and Health

Tampa, FL – Moffitt Cancer Center makes a celebration out of staying healthy. Community members are invited to attend the Pasco Health Fair. The event is open to all ages and will feature health screenings, music, door prizes, and fun activities for kids.                                                     

The health fair will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Moore-Mickens Education Center, 38301 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Dade City. 

Free health screenings include blood pressure and cholesterol checks, blood sugar checks for diabetes, vision and dental screenings, memory screenings and bone density testing. Kids’ screenings include height and weight checks.

Mammograms and Pap tests will be conducted by appointment only. Most private insurances, Medicare and some Medicaid plans are accepted. If eligible, there will be no charge for individuals without health insurance.

“This event brings together various populations to celebrate diversity, health, education and awareness,” said Shalewa Noel-Thomas, research program administrator in Health Outcomes & Behavior at Moffitt.

Health screenings will be performed by professionals of Moffitt Cancer Center and Premier Community HealthCare Group, Inc., as well as University of South Florida medical and nursing students. Services will be conducted indoors.

Partners include Farmworkers Self-Help, Inc., Moore-Mickens Education Center, Premier Community HealthCare Group, Inc. and Tampa Bay Community Cancer Network.
