St. Petersburg, FL— Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Brian Griese will throw the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays game Friday, April 18, on behalf of the Bank of St. Petersburg Miles for Moffitt, an upcoming race event benefiting Moffitt Cancer Center.
Griese, who returns to the Bucs this year as a quarterback after two seasons with the Chicago Bears, will open the game between the Rays and Chicago White Sox at Tropicana Field as part of the Rays sponsor appreciation night for the Bank of St. Petersburg Miles for Moffitt.
The Rays are the presenting sponsor of Moffitt’s race event, which is a 5K and one-mile run and fitness walk being held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the USF Sun Dome. Proceeds benefit Moffitt’s cancer research programs.
Griese and his family are longtime Moffitt supporters. Brian and his father, Bob Griese, an ABC Sports College Football Analyst and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, are on Moffitt’s national Board of Advisors
