Tampa, FL -- A free workshop for family cancer caregivers will be held May 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Vincent A. Stabile Research Building at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, 12902 Magnolia Dr. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Deadline for registration is May 8. For reservations call 1-888-MOFFITT (1-888-663-3488). The workshop is open to anyone caring for someone with cancer. Moffitt’s Miriam Innocenti, clinical social worker; Jill Blair, A.R.N.P. and Heather Bell, R.D will facilitate the workshop. Topics include coping with changing family roles, improving caregivers’ physical and mental health, understanding cancer and its treatment, managing common side effects and meeting the physical and emotional needs of patients with cancer.
The Strength for Caring program, supported by Ortho Biotech Products, L.P., focuses on ways for caregivers to manage care at home, teaches valuable problem-solving techniques and ways to improve communications skills. Caregivers are encouraged to share their experiences during the workshop.
