Moffitt appoints two key positions

Tampa, FL (Feb. 27, 2006) Janene J. Culumber was named Director of Finance for the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. Culumber previously served as Research Finance Officer at Moffitt since 2001. Prior to that, she was an audit senior manager and business consultant for KPMG, LLP.

Michelle Carlyon has been named Public Information Officer for Moffitt. Prior to joining Moffitt, Carlyon worked at the University of South Florida for five years, most recently as director of marketing. She has media experience as a producer with the local NBC affiliate, WFLA-Ch. 8. Carlyon received her bachelor’s degree in telecommunications from the University of Florida.

As Public Information Officer, Carlyon will work with Moffitt staff and faculty to identify, develop and place stories in the media, serve as the primary Public Information Officer for incoming media calls, cultivate relationships with local, regional and national media and develop messages and provide media training for Moffitt.

In 2001, the National Cancer Institute awarded Moffitt the status of Comprehensive Cancer Center – in recognition of its excellence in research and contributions to clinical trials, prevention and cancer control. Additionally, Moffitt is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a prestigious alliance of the country’s leading cancer centers and is listed in the U.S. News & World Report as one of the top cancer hospitals in America. Moffitt’s sole mission is to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.
