Moffitt announces new affiliates

Tampa, FL -- H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute is pleased to announce the addition of Moffitt affiliate members. Affiliate membership with Moffitt is offered to physicians whose medical practice in the community is focused on cancer care of the highest quality and who actively participate in Moffitt’s continuing medical education activities.

The following physicians have been granted affiliate status I (affiliates have approval from Moffitt’s Scientific Leadership Council):

David S. Lessen, M.D. – Southeast Florida Hematology & Oncology, Ft. Lauderdale (This member was also approved as a clinical research affilitate)

In 2001, the National Cancer Institute awarded Moffitt the status of a Comprehensive Cancer Center in recognition of its excellence in research and contributions to clinical trials, prevention and cancer control. Additionally, Moffitt is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a prestigious alliance of the country’s leading cancer centers, and is listed in the U.S. News & World Report as one of the top cancer hospitals in America.
