Bay area couple fast tracks wedding after cancer diagnosis

“Isolated limb infusion is a safe and effective technique of treatment of patients with locally advanced soft-tissue sarcoma who otherwise might require amputation,” said lead study author John E. Mullinax, MD, a surgical oncologist in the Sarcoma Department at the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Moffitt Cancer Center and Tampa Bay Lightning to Hold 'Skate-A-Thon'

From the Moffitt Cancer Center:  Moffitt Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, and the Tampa Bay Lightning will host the 2017 Skate-A-Thon to raise money for cancer research and patient services at the cancer center.

Groups from Equality Florida, Diversity Tampa Bay and Balance Tampa Bay will be recognized in-arena and proceeds from the game's 50/50 drawing, presented by Moffitt Cancer Center, will benefit local LGBTQ charities.

Former Hillsborough County school board member Doretha Edgecomb may be retired but don't expect her to slow down any time soon. In the last month, she's helped H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center launch the George Edgecomb Society, a cancer outreach program targeting the African-American community. It's named after her late husband, Hillsborough County's first black judge who died in 1976 of leukemia.
