Moffitt Cancer Center's Endocrine Oncology Program is highly specialized in the treatment of thyroid, pituitary, adrenal gland and other endocrine cancers. As the only comprehensive endocrine program in the Southeast, we are leaders in treating even the rarest malignancies. What sets Moffitt apart is our multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer.

The Endocrine Multidisciplinary Clinic model is a process in which each patient’s treatment plan is assembled by a team of experienced endocrinologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and geneticists. Our specialized medical professionals collaborate weekly in a tumor board to assess each patient's treatment plan, providing the benefit of multiple expert opinions in a single location. In advanced cases, Moffitt physicians evaluate clinical trials and emerging treatments assessing every option of care. This allows the patient the relief of having to self-coordinate their care and provides peace of. mind knowing all their caretakers are working together to develop a unique treatment plan specific to their diagnosis.

Moffitt's Clinical Pathways delivers a physician access portal with standard treatment plans for a variety of cancer diagnoses. Eighty percent of cancer diagnoses are captured in the pathway, which is continually updated to reflect the latest advances in cancer detection, treatment and prevention. In return, the pathway system ensures all Moffitt physicians are implementing the same level of care. These pathways are designed to (1) Streamline patient care by establishing guidelines to drive treatment decisions, (2) Provide the most cost-effective treatment option, such as the use of generic drugs instead of branded pharmaceuticals, when appropriate, (3) Guarantee patients receive the treatments that are most beneficial for their prognosis while considering their individualized needs and preferences.

Patients seen at Moffitt’s Endocrine Oncology Program have access to expert speech-language pathologists (SLPs). Moffitt provides speech and swallowing assessments to treat patients with speech, language, cognitive and/or swallowing disorders. Additionally, the program utilizes some of the latest innovative treatment services, such as marker testing of thyroid nodules and dynamic hormonal testing and microvascular reconstructive techniques. Other patient services include endocrine and head and neck support groups, a space where patients, survivors and caregivers can offer support to one another and stay educated on the latest oncology advancements and other endocrine-related topics.
