Program Description

The Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Immunotherapy (BMT-CI) Program at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida, is a one-year BMT-CI fellowship providing clinical training in Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Immune Cell Therapy. Our 18 clinical and research faculty members provide outstanding learning opportunities for fellows in both transplantation and immune cell therapy. In addition to our numerous transplant clinical trials, we have numerous open trials utilizing CAR-T, marrow infiltrating lymphocytes and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes. The BMT-CI program has performed more than 425 transplants in addition to the immune cell therapies. Opportunities exist for clinical and laboratory research in cancer and transplantation biology, including GVHD prevention and tumor immunotherapy.

Candidates must have completed an accredited residency program in internal medicine and a fellowship in either medical oncology or hematology. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. This program does not sponsor visas.

Graduating fellows will be able to:

  • Provide their patients with the highest quality of care in HCT
  • Diagnose and manage post-transplant complications and GVHD
  • Design and carry out clinical trials in transplantation
  • Care for patients undergoing other cellular and immunotherapies  

Research

Fellows will be expected to participate in clinical trials and clinical research projects. All BMT-CI Faculty Members are involved in research programs which include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosis, prevention and treatment of graft vs. host disease
  • Cellular therapies for leukemia
  • Haploidentical transplantation
  • Novel therapies and approaches for multiple myeloma
  • Immunotherapy and transplant for lymphoma
  • Myelodysplasia
  • Sickle cell anemia

Eligibility

Candidates for the BMT-CI fellowship must have completed an ACGME–accredited (or Canadian equivalent) residency program in internal medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology and/or hematology or immunology. Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. No visa sponsorship is available.

Number of Positions

Three positions per year

Deadline

  • Applications are accepted starting March 1st. (July 1 start date)
  • Selected applicants will be invited to interview.
  • Fellows selection will be made on a rolling basis.
