Residency Curriculum
Rotations
The PGY1 resident will begin the year with one month of hospital orientation, followed by a combination of required and elective rotations as outlined below. Additionally, dedicated time for research will be given (generally during the month of December).
Required:
- Internal Medicine I
- Internal Medicine II
- Infectious Diseases
- Critical Care
- Hematology/Oncology
- Pain & Palliative Care
- Medication Safety
- Administration
Elective (include but not limited to):
- Hematology/Oncology II
- Nutrition Support
- Informatics
- Geriatrics
- Academia (offsite)
- Critical Care II (offsite)
- Emergency Medicine (offsite)
- Pediatrics (offsite)
Presentations
The PGY1 resident will have a variety of opportunities to hone presentation skills and work through evidence-based medicine.
- Medicine Forum CE (quarterly)
- Journal Club (quarterly)
- Case Presentation (quarterly)
Research
The PGY1 resident will have the opportunity to participate in formal projects throughout the year to develop research and writing skills.
Major Research Project
- One poster presentation at ASHP Midyear
- One platform presentation at Florida Residency Conference
- One grand rounds presentation at Moffitt Cancer Center
Medication Use Evaluation
- One presentation at Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee
- One presentation to the respective medical group
- Education to staff as needed
