A Sense of Hope
Jacqueline went through quite a journey before she came here to be treated. But one New York City surgeon who had done his fellowship at Moffitt gave her the kind of advice she couldn't ignore. Jacqueline recalls exactly what he said:
"If you were my daughter, I would take you to Moffitt. So I suggest you call there."
Before committing, she moved to Orlando and was told it would be a miracle if she lived another five years. Not a moment too late, she was in Tampa at Moffitt.
Partner In Care
Dr. Sondak was prepared to help Jacqueline as soon as he met her in his clinic. His optimism about treating her melanoma gave her a sense that she would get through this. Here at Moffitt, a team of medical professionals work together to find the best possible treatment to meet each patient's unique needs.
"(Dr. Sondak) said write down all your questions...and he went through each and every question and made sure that I understood and was comfortable," Jacqueline says.
One of the things that made it easy for her to move forward during her treatment was that everyone pushed her to do better. She recalls how their encouragement and comfort gave her a sense of hope.
Moffitt is dedicated to the research, cure and prevention of melanoma. For early-stage melanoma, treatment most commonly consists of surgery. Patients are provided a complete range of surgical treatments and other therapies.
