Overview

Study Title

A Mixed-Methods Study to Inform the Use of Patient Education and Digital Technology to Increase the Racial/Ethnic Diversity of Clinical Trial Participants

Summary

Objective

Specific Aims Aim 1: To examine patient perspectives on the use of patient navigation and digital technologies in clinical trial enrollment. Aim 1a. Surveys developed based on formative evaluation of the exiting literature will be administered to patient participants to validate external findings in this population as well as to develop a sense of preferences for intervention which will then guide development/refinement of interview guide. Aim 1b. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted to compliment surveys. By asking open-ended questions through semi-structured interviews, we allow participants to identify topics they understand as important, which may differ from survey questions. This inductive inquiry compliments survey findings by adding attention to context, complexities, and subjective meanings that are not easily quantified. Aim 2: To identify the systems- and clinician-level facilitators and barriers to intervention adoption.
