Study Title

AutoFOCUS: A Mindfulness-Based Intervention for Autologous HCT Cancer Caregivers

Summary

The purpose of the study is to understand whether stress management interventions impact stress among autologous hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) cancer caregivers.

Objective

Aim 1. Conduct a single-arm pilot study of FOCUS for autologous caregivers. Aim 2. Evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of FOCUS via established benchmarks and in-depth interviews; examine descriptive data on variables associated with reduced stress.

Inclusion Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Caregiver of a patient in the process of receiving and autologous HCT for cancer treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center
  • Must intend to remain the primary caregiver throughout the outpatient process
  • Must commit to meeting with the study staff for weekly sessions (accommodations may be made for emergencies/last minute schedule changes)
  • Able to provide informed consent
  • Able and willing to download a study-related smartphone application on their personal device

  • Exclusion Criteria

    Exclusion Criteria:

  • Does not speak or read the English language, with the exception of certain medical conditions (e.g., being visually impaired)
