Smoking and Media Messages Study

Summary

The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of COVID-19 on smoking behavior by assessing the effect of an affective prime on adult smokers’ smoking motivation. The purpose is also to investigate whether the salience of COVID-19 and disparities differentially influences smoking motivation between Black and White smokers.

Inclusion Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Self-identify as either Black (or African American) or White (or Caucasian)
  • Have a smoking history of at least one year
  • Spoke cigarettes at least 4 days a wekk
