Overview

Study Title

A Motion Exergaming Approach to Promote Self-Managing Fatigue and Pain after Head and Neck Cancer Treatment

Summary

This studies is to determine the effect of PAfitME on fatigue and musculoskeletal pain in patients who have had head and neck cancer treatment.

Objective

When compared to an attention control group, determine the effect of PAfitME on fatigue and musculoskeletal pain (primary outcomes) at week 6, when controlling for age and sex. When compared to an attention control group, determine the effect of PAfitME on functional status and QOL (secondary outcomes) at week 6, when controlling for age and sex.

Inclusion Criteria

Head & Neck cancer patients who are:

  • Within a month after cancer treatment (radiation or chemoradiation) completion
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Able to understand English
  • Able to communicate
  • Have a Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score of 60% or greater
  • Have fatigue or pain of greater than or equal to moderate severity, and
  • live within a 60 mile radius of Moffitt Cancer Center

  • Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients who are hospitalized
  • Patients in hospice care
  • Patients with a history of seizures or loss of consciousness, or
  • Patients who are cognitively impaired (as defined per protocol)
