Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship

Program Description 

The University of South Florida Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center is a one year program for individuals who have completed an orthopaedic residency and who desire to have advanced training in the diagnosis, management and follow-up care for patients with musculoskeletal tumors. The program is based at the campus of the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center based in the state of Florida, and the All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. 

The goals of the Musculoskeletal fellowship are to provide a comprehensive educational, clinical, surgical and academic training opportunity in musculoskeletal oncology and to stimulate our trainees to subsequently provide exemplary clinical care and contribute to future improvements in the field of oncology. 

Research

The fellow is allotted dedicated research time and opportunities to present at national level conferences.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship, candidates must have completed an ACGME approved (or equivalent) residency training program in orthopaedic surgery and should be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedics. Selection will be supervised by the program directors of musculoskeletal oncology, with the consultation of other faculty members in the section. Materials solicited for review will include a CV, medical school transcripts, residency program director’s recommendation, three other letters of reference and a personal statement. Interviews will be required. One fellow will be appointed each year. This will depend on the applicant pool and the availability of funds

  • Application is due by December 1.
  • Interviews are conducted from January to March.
  • Applicants are notified during April.
  • Program start date is August 1.
