A gynecological oncologist is a physician who is specifically trained to diagnose and treat cancers of the female reproductive system. Because these oncologists focus exclusively on a few specific diagnoses, they are able to develop an especially high level of expertise.

At Moffitt Cancer Center, our gynecological oncologists have their own respective areas of specialization, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy or surgery. These professionals work in collaborative, multispecialty groups to coordinate each patient’s treatment.

At Moffitt, patients with the following diagnoses can consult with a gynecological oncologist:

  • Cervical cancer
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Uterine (endometrial) cancer
  • Vaginal cancer
  • Vulvar cancer

Using evidence-based best practices to guide their decisions, our gynecologic oncologists provide the comprehensive treatment and compassionate support that every patient deserves. We offer a full range of gynecological oncology services in a single location, making it easy for our patients to access chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, hormonal therapy, biological therapy and supportive care without having to turn to different clinics.

Additionally, we have a vibrant clinical trials program, which allows each participant to access today’s latest therapies under the supervision of her gynecological oncologist. At any given time, our research program usually has several studies open for patients who are diagnosed with ovarian, cervical, vaginal, uterine or vulvar cancer. For our efforts, we have been named a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute, and ours is the only such organization based in Florida.

To request an appointment with a gynecological oncologist, call 1-888-663-3488 or submit a new patient registration form online. We welcome – but never require – physician referrals.
