Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Treatment Information

Invasive lobular carcinoma is a type of breast cancer that originates in the lobules, the glands in the breast that are responsible for producing milk. As its name suggests, invasive lobular carcinoma has invaded surrounding breast tissue, and has the potential of spreading beyond its point of origin to the lymph nodes and other distant areas of the body over time.

Accounting for approximately 10 percent of all invasive breast cancers, invasive lobular carcinoma is the second most common type of breast cancer. It is most commonly found in older women, with about two-thirds of patients being age 55 or older at the time of diagnosis.
