Joseph S. Hice, Jr., A.P.R., C.P.R.C., M.A., MBA, is vice president of Public Relations and Marketing at Moffitt Cancer Center. Mr. Hice provides leadership in the strategic direction for marketing, media relations and public affairs, and integrates all communication initiatives within the Cancer Center. He reports to Yvette Tremonti, executive vice president of Strategy and Business Development.
Most recently Mr. Hice served as chief communications officer and associate vice chancellor of North Carolina State University, where he was responsible for public relations, marketing, advertising and employee communications activities. His long career also includes positions as associate vice president of University Relations at the University of Florida, where he led the development of the Gator Nation campaign; director of corporate communications for Harley-Davidson; chief marketing officer for Segway; and director of marketing communications for Bombardier Inc., which manufactures Sea-Doo watercraft and jet boats.
Prior to entering the corporate world, Mr. Hice was co-owner of his own public relations firm in Tampa and was a vice president of the international PR agency Hill & Knowlton. He was also business editor of The Tampa Times newspaper and a staff writer with Florida Trend magazine and the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
Mr. Hice holds a bachelor of science and a master of arts degree in journalism and communications from UF and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. He is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America and has his Certified Public Relations Counselor designation from the Florida Public Relations Association.
