Welcome to the Patient Library & Welcome Center (formerly the PERC, Patient Education Resource Center), where we believe that knowledge is power. The Patient Library & Welcome Center is a consumer health library with the latest information on cancer care, including disease and treatment information, coping and support, integrative medicine and prevention. The Patient Library & Welcome Center provides skilled, personalized service and empowers Moffitt Cancer Center patients, family members, caregivers and the public to make informed decisions and become active partners in their health care. Resources include:
- Health and medical reference books
- Pamphlets and brochures
- Computer software, including the Oncology Interactive Education Series (OIES)
- Consumer health magazines and newsletters
- Audio and videotapes
- Personal stories of hope
- Internet access
If you or someone close to you receives a cancer diagnosis, we encourage you to visit the Patient Library & Welcome Center, where trained patient education specialists and volunteers will provide information that will help you:
- Understand the diagnosis and possible treatment options
- Make informed treatment decisions
- Effectively communicate with the health care team
- Know what to expect before, during and after treatment
