At Moffitt, we offer our dedicated support and cooperation to our fellow medical professionals. It is our intent to keep communication channels open by apprising referring physicians of their patients' condition at crucial steps. We will make every effort to provide the information and services requested and to return patients to their referring physicians for continued care.
The mission of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute Graduate Medical Education Department is to improve the quality of health care at the Center by ensuring and improving the quality of educational experiences for physicians in training.

Residency Programs:
The Office of Graduate Medical Education coordinates house staff appointments and assignments. The office also assists in assuring excellence in the training programs, and serving prospective, current and past house staff.
The Graduate Medical Education Office offers oncology fellowship training programs in medical oncology and surgical oncology subspecialties. The GME fellowship programs consist of Blood & Marrow Transplant, Hematology & Medical Oncology, Neurosurgery, OB/GYN, Surgical Pathology, Psychosocial & Palliative care, Urology, Breast Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Musculoskeletal Oncology. The medical oncology fellowship program is accredited and approved by the ACGME accreditation board. The SSO board approves the surgical oncology fellowship program.
The Graduate Medical Education Department at the Cancer Center prides itself on its housestaff-friendly philosophy, encouraging communication among house staff and representatives from the faculty in response to resident concerns, and advocates on behalf of the residents, fellows and faculty. To increase the communication and better understand the needs of the house staff, we have created a Round Table committee that meets quarterly with the Chairman of the Education Office at the Cancer Center and the Associate Dean of the University of South Florida College of Medicine Graduate Medical Education to discuss issues or ways to improve the education needs at the Center.
We have established a Graduate Medical Education Committee to build a strong mentorship program to match selected faculty members with individual fellows. The goal of the mentorship program is to find dedicated faculty to be a source of inspiration, encouragement, support and assistance to all who strive for educational excellence. The mentors are encouraged to develop a consultative role and encourage innovation.
Another area of emphasis has been placed in the development of setting standards for the educational conferences. In developing educational conferences, the GME office is responsive to change and innovation in education and current practice, promotes the use of effective measurement tools to assess resident-physician competency and encourages educational improvement. We have designed a multidisciplinary conference to be held once a month to enhance the multidisciplinary approach of the Center.
