Welcome to the Moffitt Research Institute Scientific Retreat Web site. This year the retreat will be held on our own campus in the Stabile Research Building on Friday, March 6, 2009. The theme of our 2009 Scientific Retreat will be “New Approaches, New Partners.”
Continental breakfast will be served starting at 7 a.m. in the Atrium. Platform presentations begin at 8 a.m. in the Couch auditorium and will highlight new faculty members, new scientific programs and new affiliations that bring us “one step closer to the cure.”
This year’s retreat will also showcase the work of our graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in a competitive poster session beginning at 10:30 am. The 2009 format is a little different than in the past two years. After the poster session the retreat planning committee will pick the first, second and third place posters and award cash prizes based on the submitted abstract and the poster presentation. The most outstanding poster presentations from a graduate student and from a postdoctoral fellow will a give a seminar at a later date. In order to participate in the poster session, students and fellows must submit abstract forms by the deadline of Feb. 20, 2009. Since the retreat is on campus this year, it will be necessary to pre-register if you plan on attending the barbeque lunch in the Atrium. Please email Debbie Magley (Debbie.Magley@moffitt.org ) from your Moffitt email account with “Retreat Registration” in the subject line to register.
After lunch, platform presentations will resume in the Couch Auditorium. Dr. Jeff Trent will give the keynote address at 4 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the retreat will conclude with an Award Ceremony. The Milestone Award will be given on behalf of the Miles for Moffitt Board of Directors. Winners of the graduate student and postdoctoral fellow poster competition also will be announced.
