Chair: Harald zur Hausen, M.D.
Dr. Harald zur Hausen received the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of the role of human papillomaviruses in cervical cancer. His extensive virology experience encompasses a variety of oncoviruses, further detailed in his book, Infections Causing Human Cancer (2006). Dr. zur Hausen has more than 300 publications and has received a number of prestigious awards recognizing his contributions to the field. He currently serves as Vice President of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences and Professor Emeritus of the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelburg.
