The Cancer Informatics Core (CIC) ensures that researchers have access to expert informatics and computational support. The goals of the CIC are:
- To support cancer researchers at Moffitt from pre-study design through the publication of research discoveries. They do this through:
o Consultation and experimental design
o Database searches
o Assistance with grant preparation
o Development of data management and computational tools
o Complex data analysis
o Development of data visualization and sharing tools
o Assistance with manuscript preparation - To support other core facilities by helping with data processing, information analysis and management, integration and visualization, and other informatics and computational requirements
- To implement the NCI cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid® (caBIG®) infrastructure and install caBIG tools for Moffitt investigators to readily share data with outside cancer researchers
- To educate and train investigators on biomedical informatics resources and use of tools
The CIC provides the following services:
- Needs assessment and project design consultation
- Analysis of biomedical data and knowledge discovery
- Management and integration of biomedical data
- Evaluation and development of computational tools
- Access to patient data
- Access to public biomedical data and analytical tools
- Education and training
- caBIG® application and data sharing
