Community-Based Participatory Research Training Program (CBPRTP)

CBPRTP prepares junior investigators for careers in community-based participatory research. This unique training program includes a series of educational, collaborative, and field activities that involve didactic and interactive methods to expand investigator skill-set in community-based participatory research theory and practice. By linking new investigators to the community, the CBPRTP provides an understanding of economic, social and cultural perspectives in the conduct of community-based research along with experiential strategies in communication. Together, our goal is to create sustainable and effective community-based interventions to impact cancer disparities.

All Trainees will have access to local training and field placement, funding to attend additional training at the national level and a national scientific meeting, access to apply for pilot project funds, opportunities for meaningful interaction and relationship building with community partners, and outstanding academic and community mentorship within a highly supportive environment.
TBCCN’s first cohort of junior investigators (i.e., Trainees) graduated from the program in the summer of 2012. The current cohort will graduate in 2014. We are excited to introduce you to our current trainees and mentors:
