Dr. Bloom’s research interest is focused on the use of large biological datasets, including microarray and proteomic data, to classify characteristics of common tumors; including site of origin, response to chemotherapy, response to radiotherapy, and survival. He is also interested in the model-based normalization of microarray data across sample sets for use in classifier construction.  Of particular focus is decoding molecular fingerprints that may indicate colon cancer metastasis.
