Mentored Physician-Scientist Programs

Where You Are:

The Moffitt Research Institute has developed three formal Mentored Physician-Scientist programs to train and mentor select physicians with an interest in research. In addition to their clinical duties, these physicians are provided protected time and effort to conduct independent research. The goal of the program is to develop externally funded clinical investigators who translate their scientific findings into the clinic. These mentored physician-scientists further the aims of Total Cancer Care through their translational research, which brings the discoveries of the laboratory to the patient. There are three distinct training programs, each with their own standards of review and evaluation. Complete policies for each program is available online.

Basic Science

Physicians are provided protected time to conduct basic research within the laboratory of a senior principal investigator to conduct independent research for a maximum of three years.
