About the art in this issue:

Jeffrey Hessing was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1952. He attended the State University of New York at Binghamton from 1969 to 1972, and till 1973 he studied with Leonard Baskin. In 1980, Hessing moved to the medieval village of Vence, France. His vivid landscapes and interiors convey the intensity of the region’s color and light, and his work reflects the passionate approach to life exhibited by the inhabitants of Provence. As a student of painter and collector Leonard Baskin, Hessing is strongly influenced by the Fauvist palette and its expressive technique. He has exhibited extensively throughout France, and his work has been displayed at the Pucker Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts, since 1979.
