Angela's Leukemia Story

"They treat their patients like they would their friends or family."

In 2008 Angela Ostermann, then 30 years old, found she had acute myeloid leukemia. A new mother with a responsible job writing training manuals, she immediately was put into isolation and underwent inpatient chemotherapy followed by seven months of outpatient chemotherapy at Moffitt.

By 2009 she became cancer-free. In 2011 she participated in the Miles For Moffitt race and, more recently, competed in the Disney Half-Marathon, a 13.1-mile event.

Self-renewed through exercise, careful nutrition and a big change in attitude about life, Ostermann has become a role model for other cancer survivors.
