The mission of Rehabilitation Services at Moffitt Cancer Center is to improve the quality of life and functional independence of patients across all cancer diagnoses and phases of recovery. This mission is fulfilled by providing evidenced-based, comprehensive, coordinated and compassionate care by qualified members of the Rehabilitation Services team. This team consists of professionals in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology.
Research has long recognized the importance of physical function as a key component to the health and quality of life of the individual. Patients with cancer value their physical abilities and are increasingly seeking ways to become more active in their own recovery. While at Moffitt, a patient might receive rehabilitation services as an inpatient – for example, following their surgery – or as an outpatient throughout cancer treatment.
If you or someone you know is having difficulties performing daily activities, balance concerns, generalized deconditioning, problems with mobility, difficulty swallowing or with speech, Rehabilitation Services may be able to assist you. Please speak with your physician about an order for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology.
