Patient & Family Advisory Program Wins the Spirit of Moffitt Award
Moffitt‘s Team Awards Program is designed to recognize the improvements and innovations made to ensure the Cancer Center is the best place for patients to receive care and the best place for employees, physicians, scientists and volunteers to work.
Each of the teams must exemplify the values of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute: scientific, educational and patient care excellence; unity in pursuit of our mission; creativity; compassion for our patients and their families; employees, volunteers and faculty are our most prized resource; stewardship; social responsibility and ethics of the highest standard.
The Fifth Annual Team Awards were held October 5, 2006, in the Ted & Marty Couch Auditorium in the Vincent A. Stabile Research Building. There were six award categories: Excellence In Patient Care, Excellence In Research, Excellence In Safety, Becoming An Employer of Choice, Reaching Out To The Community, Forerunner and – the Center’s highest honor – Spirit of Moffitt.
The Spirit of Moffitt Award recognizes the team that best exemplifies Moffitt’s Core Values, persists despite obstacles, and increases employee morale and service quality by acting as a role model to other departments/areas.
The team received $1,000 for winning the Spirit of Moffitt award, which they have donated back to help cancer patients and families at Moffitt Cancer Center.
