Moffitt Cancer Center, QURE Partner to Improve Quality of Care, Cancer Outcomes

Apr 30, 2013

TAMPA, Fla., and SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Moffitt Cancer Center and QURE Healthcare have launched a four-year partnership to measure and enhance the quality of care and improve outcomes for cancer patients.

The National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center and the health care research and business firm are combining clinical, scientific and technological resources to measure and report on quality metrics. The goal is to better understand clinical practice patterns and physician decision-making so that Moffitt physicians and their physician partners in the community can be more aligned and deliver more effective and efficient care.

The collaboration will measure, validate and promote adoption of Moffitt’s nationally acclaimed oncology clinical pathways using QURE’s measurement tool, Clinical Performance and Value (CPV™) vignettes. CPV™ vignettes, QURE’s unique simulated case and evidence-based feedback system, will measure and leverage Moffitt’s leadership in multidisciplinary clinical care, molecular diagnostics, chemotherapy protocols and diagnostic radiology. This collaboration also is expected to advance the creation of emerging diagnostics and therapeutics.

“The challenge facing health systems today is that payer relationships are evolving. The revenue conversation has been replaced by the value equation, which is defined by quality and cost,” said Dr. John Peabody, QURE’s founder and president. “Moffitt represents the best in specialty accountable care organizations. Moffitt’s unrelenting pursuit of quality attracts providers and patients, who rely on Moffitt’s diagnostic excellence and quality. This is now just as vital to payers who already rely on Moffitt’s therapeutic efficiency to deliver the most effective care to their beneficiaries.”

Once a baseline is established against the Moffitt cancer pathways, the initiative intends to broaden its scope to the economic and quality improvement of full CPV™ deployment across a strategic network of oncology partners across Florida and other states.

“The key for cancer patients is to have the best possible care using the most advanced technologies. Moffitt has always integrated this level of clinical and technical excellence.  As we continue to grow, it is critical that we scientifically maintain that same standard for the quality of our providers and our partners,” said Dr. Alan List, president and CEO of Moffitt. “We believe that the CPV™ vignettes and Feedback systems, which uniquely measure and improve practice, make QURE the ideal resource for Moffitt and will enhance our level of excellence within our oncology partner network. QURE’s system gives us an exceptional opportunity to have more strategic conversations with our payers, which will benefit patients in Florida and beyond.”
