|WHAT: || ||Moffitt Cancer Center and the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System are proud to announce their partnership, as they advocate toward a common goal—to educate community members on cancer awareness and prevention. |
The John F. Germany library in downtown Tampa will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Jan. 18 in Moffitt’s Resource Corner. Free reference materials on cancer prevention and treatment, and information on the Moffitt Program for Outreach Wellness Education & Resources (M-POWER) are available on the second floor of the east wing.
B. Lee Green, Ph.D., vice president of Moffitt Diversity and senior member of Health Outcomes and Behavior will make opening remarks at 6 p.m.
Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe is scheduled to speak to the audience, showing his generous support of cancer education resources.
Immediately following the ribbon-cutting event, Moffitt’s director of Nutrition, Kathy Allen, will present ideas for starting the New Year on a path to better health with nutrient-rich foods that won’t break your budget. This lecture will be the first of a quarterly series centered on prevention, early detection, research and treatment of cancer.
The Friends of the John F. Germany Public Library will provide refreshments.
