TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 5, 2011) – Moffitt Cancer Center will host its fifth-annual Business of Biotech conference from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Vincent A. Stabile Research Building, 12902 Magnolia Drive. This year’s theme is “Share the Science, Secure the Success.”
“We are delighted that Dr. Robert Tepper, a partner with Third Rock Ventures, will be featured as the keynote speaker for our conference,” said conference co-chairman Jarett Rieger, director of the Office of Technology Management and Commercialization and associate general counsel. “Dr. Tepper is a distinguished scientist with more than 25 years of experience building and operating leading research and development operations. We are excited to hear his thoughts on creating a biotech ecosystem in the Tampa Bay area.” In 2007, Tepper co-founded Third Rock Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Boston.
The conference is free and focuses on opportunities for businesses and investors to network and collaborate in life sciences, biotechnology, medical devices, angel investing, venture capital, finance and intellectual property.
Breakout sessions will focus on:
- How and why you should consider investing in life sciences
- Start-up companies: Asking the tough questions before you get started
- Latest trends in biotechnology licensing
- Bringing a medical device to market in an uncertain environment
