Moffitt Administrator Earns Top Healthcare Management Credential

Apr 02, 2008

Tampa, FL (April 2, 2008) – Valerie Powell-Stafford, program administrator at Moffitt Cancer Center, became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for health care leaders.
“By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, healthcare leaders can show that they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community,” said Thomas C. Dolan, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of ACHE.
Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development and pursuit of leadership positions. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years. Powell-Stafford is one of 7,500 health care executives who holds this distinction nationally.
“Becoming a Fellow has allowed me to be better prepared to take on leadership roles,” said Powell-Stafford. She serves as the president of West Florida chapter of ACHE.
Powell-Stafford previously served on the Regents Advisory Board of ACHE, was the vice-president of the board of directors of Big Brothers-Big Sisters of greater Tampa and is a Leadership Tampa alumna. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University and M.H.A. from the University of Michigan.
