Where You Are:

The University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Training Program are dedicated to training future academicians, who are outstanding educators, researchers and clinicians.

Candidate selection is based upon a balance of evidence of having been trained in excellent medical schools and usually in primary training programs of US medical school residency; outstanding clinical ability; and a demonstrated interest in and aptitude for an academic research career. We have a strong commitment to the training of women and underserved minority physicians.

Our Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Training Program is highly competitive, with only about 35 to 40 (10% of) applicants receiving invitations for interviews for our 9 available positions each year. We consider applicants with J-1 visas only under highly unusual circumstances (2 in the past 13 years). We do not consider any trainees with other types of visas at the time of application, regardless of future expectations of changes in visa status.

All candidates for this fellowship training program must be enrolled in or must have completed an ACGME-accredited U.S. or Canadian Internal Medicine Residency Training Program. By the time that they are due to begin their fellowship training, all fellows must be certified or eligible to take the examination for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine. If you are invited for an interview, you will have the opportunity to speak with both faculty and fellows involved in the Clinical and Academic Career Training tracks during your visit to our institution.
